Con Alma Health Foundation 2020 Annual Report
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” For many New Mexicans, 2020 will be remembered as a year unlike any other – mostly consumed by the Covid-19 global health pandemic. Through the unimaginable loss of life, illness, despair, financial struggles, and economic crises – also came strength, resilience, unforeseen partnerships, and hope for the future. Throughout the year, Con Alma Health Foundation attempted to be a trusted voice as we supported our partners and grantees doing the tough work each and every day. In addition to our traditional grantmaking, Con Alma awarded an additional $1.5 million to support communities in New Mexico disproportionately affected by the pandemic and those who couldn’t access government resources. With our partners throughout the state, we saw an increased number of individuals who self-reported to the Census, resulting in an additional $124 million for the Land of Enchantment over the next 10 years. As the year progressed, both New Mexico and the nation became entrenched in conversations about health and racial equity. While 2020 was turbulent and uncertain, our mission and core values remained the same. We invite you to visit the 2020 report, where we share some defining moments and elevate our grantees and partners who make a difference, promote hope, and advance health equity.
