Con Alma Congratulates Nathan Padilla

Jun 17, 2022

Con Alma named Nathan Padilla as president of our Board of Trustees. Padilla, LCSW, is a Roswell native, clinical director and executive director of the nonprofit Embrace, which provides outpatient substance misuse and mental health services in southeastern New Mexico.

Padilla joined Con Alma in 2008 as a member of our Community Advisory Committee, which represents New Mexico’s diverse communities. He has served as vice president of the Board of Trustees for the past two years.

Padilla, a recovering addict who believes in supporting the underserved, holds a master’s in social work, a bachelor’s in psychology and pre-med biology, and an associate degree in chemistry. “Con Alma is a great organization that wants to lift up the people the rest of the world doesn’t see,” Padilla said.

As New Mexico recovers from the pandemic, Padilla is looking toward Con Alma’s future as the health foundation continues to provide grants to nonprofits that support local communities to improve health and wellness in a way that works best for them.

“I’d like to see whether we can offer more sustainable funding to help nonprofits have a greater impact,” he said.

Padilla has previously served as president of the New Mexico Addiction Education Network, and a member of the Chaves County Health Council and Chaves County Behavioral Health Committee.

“We are grateful to work with such dedicated individuals on our Board of Trustees and Community Advisory Committee,” said Denise Herrera, Con Alma’s executive director. “We appreciate outgoing President Trish Ruiz’s contributions and look forward to Nathan Padilla’s leadership in his new role.”
