Health Action New Mexico announced recently that Dolores E. Roybal, Con Alma’s executive director, is one of 20 individuals the health advocacy group is honoring for making major contributions to improving health care in New Mexico over the past 20 years. Health Action will recognize the individuals at its upcoming 20th anniversary celebration in Albuquerque on Sept. 26.
“The board of directors and the staff of the Con Alma Health Foundation are not at all surprised at this latest honor for our beloved Dolores,” said Dr. Alfredo Vigil, president of Con Alma’s Board of Trustees. She has spent decades of her life devoted to the improvement of health for her fellow New Mexicans. We are grateful to Health Action New Mexico for recognizing her many, many accomplishments. Our deepest congratulations go to Dolores for a job well done.”
As the state’s largest private foundation dedicated solely to health, Con Alma Health Foundation builds partnerships and invests in sustainable solutions to improve the health of all New Mexicans. The foundation’s goal is to ensure everyone has an equal chance at living a healthy life regardless of a person’s zip code, ethnicity or income.
“I am pleased to see that Health Action is recognizing other individuals who have done such important work improving health in New Mexico,” Roybal said. Con Alma has provided grants to several nonprofits that are represented in the awards, including Charlie Alfero, director of the Center of Health Innovations and founder of Hidalgo Medical Services; Jerry Harrison, executive director of New Mexico Health Resources; and Kim Posich, executive director of Center of Law and Poverty.
