Please join us on February 7th for Anti-Racism Day in New Mexico. Albuquerque’s Poet Laureate, Hakim Bellamy, will be MC’ing the day. It will begin at 10 a.m. with Senator Lopez reading the Governor’s Proclamation proclaiming February 7th, 2014 as Anti-Racism Day in New Mexico.

The Senator will explain that in 2012, Senate Memorial 33 passed, addressing Institutional Racism. This year she will be introducing an enhanced Anti-Institutional Racism Memorial. Students who won the essay contest “How has racism affected me?” will be reading their essays on the Senate Floor.
