2017 Grantee Recognition Event

Dec 4, 2017

The Power of Partnerships

Con Alma Health Foundation would like to thank everybody who made this year’s event possible, both by attending and by all the work you do throughout the year. It is a testament to the Power of Partnerships that a celebration like our Annual Grantee Recognition Event is possible. This year we are proud to announce two health heroes who have built coalitions with partners to improve the health of their communities: Ophelia Reeder, facilitator of the McKinley County Health Council, and Mary Stoecker, who retired this year as health promotion specialist for the New Mexico Department of Health in Silver City. This year we partnered with the Sancre Productions team to create four short videos that illustrate how our grants improve the lives of people living in New Mexico. These compelling videos show how four nonprofits used our multi-year grants (three year grants ending in 2017) to help people access health care, protect the confidentiality of adolescent health care, and support community health workers to help those in need. While Con Alma is New Mexico’s largest foundation dedicated solely to health, our grants reflect a diversity of strategies and issues. We understand that health is more than healthcare and as such Con Alma defines health broadly to include physical, mental, emotional, behavioral, social, oral, environmental, economic and spiritual well-being.

Whether through our grantmaking, partnerships, research or reports, Con Alma serves as a catalyst for positive, systemic change. The emphasis of our grantmaking is on attaining long-term policy solutions and health equity. For the 2017 Grant Cycle, Con Alma awarded 46 grants totaling $625,000.

We congratulate the 2017 Grant Recipients! (Please click grant cycle titles to learn more about our grantees)

We would like to extend a special thank you to our
