Con Alma Health Foundation Grants

The 2012 Grant Cycle Application and Guidelines will be released online on Monday, April 2.

Small Grant applications are due on Friday, June 1 and NNMHGG applications are due on Friday, June 22.

INTRODUCTION:
Con Alma Health Foundation awards grants to qualified 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations serving the residents of the state of New Mexico and that align themselves with the Foundation’s mission and core values. Grant recommendations are made by Con Alma Health Foundation’s Grant Making Committee, comprised of members of the Board of Trustees and Community Advisory Committee, and ratified by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Another funding opportunity is the Northern New Mexico Health Grant Group (NNMHGG). The NNMHGG is a joint initiative of Con Alma and the Hospital Auxiliary of Los Alamos Medical Center. NNMHGG awards grants to eligible nonprofits that target the unmet healthcare needs of the people of Los Alamos, Rio Arriba and northern Santa Fe Counties. MISSION:
The mission of CAHF is to be aware of and respond to the health rights and needs of culturally and demographically diverse peoples and communities of New Mexico.

AREAS OF INTEREST:
Con Alma Health Foundation focuses broadly in the areas of health and human services with special emphasis on culturally diverse, rural and tribal communities. Priority consideration is given to proposals that demonstrate strong collaborative relationships, have multiple funding sources and a plan for sustainability and address systemic change rather than direct services.

GRANTMAKING PRIORITIES:
Recognizing that relevant, accurate healthcare information is critical to address complex health-related issues in New Mexico, CAHF recently published a new report to guide its grantmaking priorities entitled “Health Equity in New Mexico: A Roadmap for Grantmaking and Beyond”. The report was based on statistics provided by a myriad of New Mexico government agencies and nonprofit health and advocacy organizations as well as community voices from around the state.

FUNDING RESTRICTIONS:
The foundation makes its grants to 501 (c) (3) organizations within the state of New Mexico. No grants are made to individuals, for lobbying, scholarships/fellowships, or for capital costs, including property, construction or renovations. The Foundation’s grants may compliment, but shall not replace federal, tribal, state, city, town, or county government health programs.
