We encourage you to attend Anti-Racism Day at the New Mexico Capitol Rotunda Tuesday, Jan. 31. A rally will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., which includes speakers and young people who will share their art and writings that reflect how racism has affected them. Legislators will discuss this year’s proposed Anti-Institutional Racism Bill, and partnering organizations will have exhibits in the West Hall from 9 to 3 p.m.
We have supported and participated in New Mexico Health Equity Working Group’s Anti-Racism Day since its inception in 2009.
“It is an honor to join the 40 state and local organizations as well as individuals, state senators and representatives in signing an anti-racism pledge,” said Dolores E. Roybal, executive director. “Supporting culturally diverse populations is one of our priorities in order to advance racial equity.”
As the state’s largest private foundation dedicated solely to health, we understand how race, ethnicity, income and zip code can affect a person’s health. Through grants and initiatives, Con Alma is focused on achieving health equity so all people have an equal chance at living a healthy life.
Con Alma also collaborated with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and more than 130 organizations for the first National Day of Racial Healing on Jan. 17. #DayofHealing
